Between the Worlds - A Toltec/ Buddhist Journey of Awareness

How does spiritual transformation happen? Toltec Wisdom and Buddhist teachings agree that awareness is key to any change. Integrating these traditions with 12 Step recovery gives this retreat a special focus. Moving through the ancient pyramid site at Teotihuacan, we will work with powerful exercises that go to the route of our clinging, helping us to uproot destructive habitual patterns and beliefs and to cultivate wisdom, compassion, and a joyful presence. Mindfulness practices will lay the foundations for our attitude of engagement, while the Toltec practices will help us to access our inner vision and power. Come journey with us at the Dreaming House in Teotihuacan as we explore the intersection on these wisdom paths. Kevin Griffin is the author of the seminal 2004 book One Breath at a Time: Buddhism and the Twelve Steps and the recent A Burning Desire: Dharma God and the Path of Recovery. He has been practicing Buddhist meditation for three decades and been in recovery since 1985. He's been a meditation teacher for almost fifteen years. His teacher training was at Spirit Rock Meditation Center where he currently leads Dharma and Recovery classes. Kevin teaches nationally in Buddhist centers, treatment centers, professional conferences, and academic settings. He has worked as a consultant on NIH studies of mindfulness and taught meditation in prisons and homeless shelters. He specializes in helping people in recovery connect with meditation and a progressive understanding of the 12 Steps.
